K-2 Parents - school starts tomorrow! You must complete the daily health screener each day before your child leaves for school. A few important reminders and resources are listed below:
1) Attestation video: https://youtu.be/uMbDTwoKLnM
2) Bus Routes: https://bit.ly/2HmiF98

This week's meals will be available for pick up TODAY (Wednesday) between 11:30 - 1:30 pm and on all bus routes as scheduled.

Please fill out this survey (once) so we can determine the number of students who will use bus transportation once we return to in-person learning. This survey is vital to determine our bus routes in order to maintain as much social distancing as possible on the school buses. If you do not utilize bus transportation there is no need to complete the survey. The state and district encourages families to drop off their students or allow them to walk or bike to school, if safe and available during COVID. This survey will close at end of day on Sunday.

Union Gap School will be introducing a new feature in the coming days that will allow Microsoft Teams to send you a WEEKLY SUMMARY of your students' assignments. Contact the office if you need to add or update your email records.
Finally, TECH TIP FOR THE WEEK: Restart your students' computer every week. This will update the programs and keep things running well.

Reminder there is no school tomorrow for teacher professional development.

Families - we are reviewing final logistics (busing) to determine our hybrid instructional model and opening timeline. Our model and timeline will be announced no later than Monday and then parent choice of opting into Virtual Academy will be reopened for one more week (October 16 deadline) for those parents who had not made a decision before Monday. The initial registration was required for staffing purposes. Stay tuned.
Parent feedback has been vital in the process. Thank you.

Update Your Email Address!
We cannot contact families other by phone unless we have your updated email address. We can text you through Remind or send you push-notifications (mobile app), but many platforms work best when parents have an email address on file. Contact the school if you need to update your email address or phone number. Thank you!

Reminder that tomorrow (Friday), September 25th is a non-school day. Enjoy!

The Union Gap School District is planning to move to a hybrid model of instruction in the near future.
Part of that planning is determining if you, as parent/guardian, are planning to keep your child in virtual learning (home on the computer to learn - no packets) when we are back to instructing in the classroom. If you move to optional virtual learning, your child must remain there until the end of 1st Semester (January 15th) before they can return to the building for instruction.
Hybrid model of instruction means that your child will attend school, two days a week and be in virtual learning the other 3. Masks and social distancing will be required in order for students to attend school. Students will keep the same teachers that they have during their "in-school" days, including Specialists (Art, Music, PE). Students will eat meals in the building and have recess and "mask break" times.
In full time virtual learning, your student will not have the same teacher(s) during virtual learning and will be assigned to Edgenuity which is an online curriculum platform with one teacher that will monitor their progress, give feedback, etc. This means your child will not receive the same instruction as those students in class and they will not attend "live instruction" with the teachers they started the school year with. Grade level standards will be the same, however, the instruction will not. The majority of the instruction will come from the online platform and not live teachers.
Virtual students will be allowed to return to in person learning after the end of 1st semester or can choose to remain in virtual learning for the rest of the year.
If you wish for your child to stay in virtual learning after health authorities allow us to provide in building instruction, please complete this survey by end of day on September 30th. You do not need to complete the survey if your child will be returning to school once we are allowed to safely open.
If you have any specific questions, please feel free to contact me at lgredvig@union.org or 654-7985.
