Our fantastic team distributed 4770 meals today! Afterward Dominos celebrated our food service staff by feeding them! Big thank you to Dominos. We enjoyed being together but were careful to social distance. We will see everyone next Tuesday from 10:30 - 12:30 for our next meal service.

Families – learning must continue! Teachers are preparing printed materials for your students to complete during the school closure with no internet or device at home. They will contact you directly where materials can be picked up this week. They are also preparing online materials to complete for those with internet access and devices at home. Families must communicate with teachers. Please respond to messages, calls, etc., as teachers are required to make student contact each week in the mode of communication that you requested during conferences. Doing nothing is not an option as materials will be assessed by teachers throughout the closure as required by the State of Washington. Grades of pass (student attempted the work) and no credit (student did not attempt the work) will be given for grades K-8. For Washington State History and Algebra (middle school) A-B-Pass-No Credit will be given because they are required for high school. You should receive instructional materials in print or electronically this week. Check ClassDojo classroom pages for specific instructions. We will be working towards having all grade level weekly schedules on our district website soon so you can get requirements for each grade for every week of closure through June 19th in one easy to find location. Please contact teachers directly with any questions about your student’s school work.

Families - Today, Governor Jay Inslee officially closed all schools for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. As a district, we are committed to doing whatever we can to be a resource to our community, families, staff and most importantly our students. In the days ahead we will receive more guidance from the state, adapt our plans and communicate with you about the remainder of the school year. Thank you for your patience and grace.

Change to Meal Service/Suspension of Bus Meal Service – Effective Friday, April 3 Beginning on Friday from 10:30 to 12:30, we will be moving to bulk meal distribution to lessen virus exposure to families and our staff. Pick up for meals will only be offered in front of the school due to being able to keep meals/milk cold. Bus delivery will no longer be an option. 7 lunches and 7 breakfasts will be given to each student to have meals through Spring Break and for Monday following Spring Break. Meals will be distributed in two grocery bags per student. Beginning, Tuesday, April 14th, 5 lunches and 5 breakfasts will be given to each child. This distribution schedule will be followed every Tuesday after that in front of the school. We will remind families one day prior to distribution of meals. There can be no exceptions to this new policy. Please contact the district office if you have any questions.

Happy Saturday Union Gap Families! Conferences will be a little different next week due to our school closure. Teachers will be asking about availability of internet access in your homes and how they can support you and your student during this unprecedented time moving into April. Our focus will be on what "school" will be like in the future versus grades and the past few months. We are excited to talk to you!

Families - teachers should have contacted you through their classroom Dojo accounts regarding materials and resources for their students today. We will be posting additional resources on our district COVID-19 webpage (www.uniongapschool.org/resources). This will continue to be updated. Please keep checking back. We will be starting to serve breakfast and lunch on Wednesday from 10:30 am - Noon. We will be doing a "drive up" style at the drop off area in front of the school. Both breakfast and lunch will be served in a "Grab and Go" sack during this time. Students that are bused will be provided meals at particular bus stops as we know all students don't have safe access to the school. More communication to follow on this tomorrow.

Sunday, March 15th Families - tomorrow we are prepared to give your students (and you) resources to help keep your students academically engaged during our mandated closure. Resources that we could quickly assemble will be sent home in print tomorrow. Teachers will be engaged on their ClassDojo classroom pages so keep checking back for resources. Our COVID-19 page on our district website will continuously be updated with academic resources for you and your students over the coming weeks. Please check back frequently. Your child will be bringing home all personal items tomorrow so classrooms can be cleaned thoroughly. If your child has medication at school that needs to be picked up, please do so ASAP. Be well.
