Teaching PE has been what I wanted to do since I was very young. When I was 5 my mom had a home daycare. I remember talking her into buying me a clipboard and whistle so when I came home from kindergarten I could take the daycare kids outside and teach them PE. I was determined from then on that I would get a degree in teaching and make a difference in kids lives.
I have lived in Yakima my whole life and attended Yakima public schools. After graduating high school I went to YVCC where I earned my associates degree. From there I moved briefly to Ellensburg where I attended CWU and earned my bachelors degree in health and fitness education. After almost two years of job searching I went back to CWU and earned my credentials in elementary education. I did substitute teaching for about a year and a half before being hired at Moxee Elementary teaching part time PE. I worked there for two years. I then got hired here at Union Gap School teaching 2nd grade. I taught 2nd grade for one year, transferred to middle school (7th/8th grade) PE for one year, then transferred to kindergarten-8th grade PE. This year I added preschool to my classes so I'm teaching PK-8 PE. I love every minute of it!

This year we are going to be participating in Jump Rope for Heart on Friday Mrach 30th. February was American Heart Month in which greater awareness is brought to heart disease and ways to keep the heart healthy. We spent the month of February doing heart games and learning a little more about the heart. There is nothing better than starting at a young age teaching students about the heart, how it works and how to keep it healthy. Please join our Jump Rope for Heart page to become part of the team.
Students will recieve their paperwork for the event this week. Students in 5th-6th grade will be doing Hoops for Heart and students in kinder-4th grade will be doing Jump Rope for Heart. All money brought in goes to the American Heart Association and will help those kids that have heart problems. Students can also register online to gather donations. Check out the paperwork sent home with your child! All paperwork is due by Wednesday March 28th.
